Welcome to The Chainbridge Hotel

Dating from 1828, The Chainbridge Hotel is an historic country hotel, with a unique location on the edge of the fast-flowing River Dee, overlooking the magnificent chain bridge and only one mile from the beautiful Welsh market town of Llangollen.

With more than 30 bedrooms, a bar and lounge, riverside restaurant and function room, The Chainbridge Hotel is the perfect place for drinks, a meal, an overnight stay or as a venue for a special celebration.

UPDATE 22nd June 2020

Good news - we are planning on reopening the hotel and all its facilities on Friday 31 July 2020! We have missed you and we are looking forward to welcoming you back!

The Welsh government has announced that from 13th July some 'self-contained' holiday accommodation can reopen, and while this does not apply to The Chainbridge, we are optimistic that at the next government briefing on 9th July they will tell the hospitality & tourism sectors that we will have three weeks to plan our reopening. This will bring us up to roughly the end of July, so we want to open up our bookings, start putting steps in place to safely welcome you, and restock the kitchen and cellar.

We will be reopening a seven day a week operation, but if demand is limited we will have to reduce this. We anticipate through the winter months we will have to reduce to being open Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday (breakfast & check-out Monday morning) only, due to the seasonality of our business.

We have been following all of the news closely and as soon as formal guidance is published we will be able to explain more fully to you what steps we will all need to follow and adhere to. We expect this to include hand sanitiser stations, social distancing, one way systems, increased table service, cashless payments & other new ways of existing - but we will say more when we know more.

An immediate change is that we have transformed our restaurant from a formal space to become a continuation of the lounge, so it will be open all day to non-residents and residents alike, for breakfast, teas and coffees, drinks, light bites & dinner - a casual dining all day space. This means there is much more capacity for people to enjoy space, while admiring our wonderful views. We will also be making more use of our amazing back garden, usually just reserved for weddings and private parties - but a fantastic spot to soak up the sun.

Obviously, we are excited to be reopening and can't wait to start to see people back through our doors. For now, phone and email contact will still be limited, but you can rebook through our website any time, for any date from Friday 31 July onwards. Bear in mind when you do, that there still may be restrictions on groups, mass gatherings etc - please do not expect things to go straight back to normal.

If you can, please book a minimum stay of two nights, which will help us with our housekeeping protocols, and bear with us if things are a little slow as we adjust to the new way of working - we'll all be doing our best to make things right for you, so you can enjoy a much needed escape.

Many thanks for all of your patience, understanding and support - and get booking!
